Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information

With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...

Deductive Database systems are designed based on a logical data model. Data (as opposed to Relational Databases Management System (RDBMS) in which data stored in tables) are saved as facts in a Deductive Database system. Datalog Educational System (DES) is a Deductive Database system that Datalog mode is the default mode in this system. It can extract data to use outer joins with three query la...

Compressed Spatial Hierarchical Bitmap (cSHB) Indexes for Efficiently Processing Spatial Range Query Workloads

In most spatial data management applications, objects are represented in terms of their coordinates in a 2-dimensional space and search queries in this space are processed using spatial index structures. On the other hand, bitmap-based indexing, especially thanks to the compression opportunities bitmaps provide, has been shown to be highly effective for query processing workloads including sele...

Semantic Caching for Multiresolution Spatial Query Processing in Mobile Environments

Spatial data are particularly useful in mobile environments. However, due to the low bandwidth of most wireless networks, developing large spatial database applications becomes a challenging process. In this paper, we provide the first attempt to combine two important techniques, multiresolution spatial data structure and semantic caching, towards efficient spatial query processing in mobile en...

Spatial database research has continued to advance greatly since three decades ago, addressing the growing data management and analysis needs of spatial applications. This research has produced a taxonomy of models for space, conceptual models, spatial query languages and query processing, spatial file organization and indexes, and spatial data mining. However, emerging needs for spatial databa...
